Egyptian startup secures six-figure seed funding

Glamera, a Cairo-based health and beauty services startup, has received a six-figure amount in seed funding from Saudi Arabia’s Dual Gate Investment Holding.

The undisclosed seed funding amount will be used to expand the startup’s reach into the Saudi market, namely Riyadh and Jeddah, expanding its customer base and service offering.

Founded in September 2019, the startup developed an app that allows users to book beauty services at salons, clinics, dental services, makeup artists, and additional services in the sector. In addition, the easy-to-use app and transparent pricing has made the app a sensation in Egypt.

The startup claims that is has 100 000 users in addition to 600 providers in Egypt, 120 in Riyadh. Also, the app is available for users in Riyadh, Jeddah, Cairo, Alexandria, and Erbil.

Omar Fathy, CTO of Glamera explains that the company is constantly innovating with the use of technology to provide a premium service to its users. 

“We have a powerful team of the best technical developers and expert project managers, working continuously to improve the design of the application interface to suit users, in addition to coming up with a recent version of the application within days that will impress users”, added Omar Fathy, CTO of Glamera.

Glamera also offers a range of other services such as free consultations for users looking to access beauty or health services such as doctors or hairdressers. 

Mohamed Hassan, co-founder, and CEO of Glamera explains that the impact of Covid-19 has changed the booking system for beauty appointments, working in favour of the innovative platform. 

“The changes that Coronavirus have made, became a great advantage for Glamera. The current circumstances have prompt users to realize the importance of pre-booking for all services including the beauty sector. It has also raised awareness of the providers for joining the app to schedule their client’s appointments through pre-booking”.

The founders are continuously looking for building the brand of Glamera and expanding in 6 countries, Egypt, KSA, Iraq, UAE, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
