Basalt Technologies has won the Technology Company of the Year Award 2020
Wayne Zwiers, CEO and founder of Basalt Technologies comments on receiving the renowned award.
“Thanks to Africa Tech Week for persisting in spite of the cancellation of the much anticipated physical event. The virtual event was outstanding and true to life for 2020. We are honoured to receive the award and constantly humbled to be working in this sector.”
Celebrating talent, innovation, and success in Africa’s tech industry, the Africa Tech Week awards recognise and award companies that have showcased a high level of excellence and developed a unique product.
Founded in 2017, the fintech startup focuses on developing innovative digital banking and insurance solutions. In a forward-thinking approach, the fintech startup works alongside clients to ‘co-create’ a fintech product that is tailored to the client’s needs.
Aside from being acclaimed as the Technology Company of the Year 2020, Basalt Technologies has been recognised for its cutting-edge work for various bands and service providers.
Zwiers sheds light on the importance of technology in addressing societal challenges and within the context of the pandemic.
“This year has seen an unrivalled focus on technology. With the far-reaching effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the businesses that have prevailed have been those who are technologically healthy and forward-thinking. Humanity has learned the invaluable lesson that we are all in this together and technology has tied everything together.”
