Top startup web events in SA this week [01/03/21]

This week’s lineup of events focuses on entrepreneurs in the eCommerce sector, the importance of business support, and how to establish a successful tech startup.

In addition, eCommerce entrepreneurs and startups will have the opportunity to learn valuable insight from a range of eCommerce companies during eCommerce Day.

Ecommerce Day

As South Africa’s largest gathering of eCommerce entrepreneurs, retailers and professionals, eCommerce Day will provide the opportunity for attendees to improve their business models, expand their marketing knowledge, and overall be equipped with the tools to take their eCommerce businesses to the next level. 

The event is centered around learning, innovation, and growth with Facebook Live sessions from industry leaders such as drop store to a masterclass on how to run an eCommerce business hosted and led by the Gordon Insitute of Business Science. Other events include informative podcasts, webinars, and live Twitter chats. ECommerce Day is the chance for attendees to engage with one another and learn from the best.

Developing an entrepreneurship ecosystem

Selebogo “Lebo” Molefe, the founder of one of Africa’s biggest startup networks, The Hook Up Dinner, will be shedding light on the intricacies of creating products that benefit budding entrepreneurs and the ecosystem as a whole in a webinar hosted by Lifecheq

During this webinar, attendees will gain a peek into the future of entrepreneurship in Africa with valuable insight from Molefe.

Fireside chat with Hertzy Kabeya

StartupGrind South Africa will be hosting a fireside chat with Hertzy Kabeya, the founder and CEO of Student Hub. 

StudentHub is a South African Edtech that provides online courses in a range of in-demand skills to assist in bridging the gap between employability and education amongst South Africans.

The edtech is majorly successful, having secured a reported R45-million in funding from Naspers. During the event, Kabeya will shed light on the success of the edtech startup and entrepreneurship.

The importance of joining business communities

Hosted by StartupGrind, Jasmine Douglas, the founder of Babes on Waves, this webinar will focus on the importance of business support. During the webinar, Douglas will discuss the importance of joining or starting business communities as a way to build confidence, grow your network and stay accountable to your goals.

 Babes on Waves is an online business membership for millennials and gen-z female entrepreneurs.
