AfricArena Summit announces speakers and pitching startups
AfricArena has announced who will be appearing at its Southern Africa Summit later this month.
The guest speakers names and startups that will be pitching were announced on 10 May.
The annual conference will take place on 19 and 20 May at Workshop 17 in Johannesburg
“We are very excited by the caliber of companies pitching for this two-day event,” said AfricArena’s ecosystem manager, Leo Boisnier in a statement.
“Every Regional Summit we do, choosing the best startups is challenging because there are so many great innovative solutions out there.”
Startups at AfricArena Southern Africa Summit
The AfricArena Summit will host over 20 startups who will showcase their innovations. The startups were chosen during a series of virtual pitch session that took place in April 2021.
The startups pitching at the summit are the following:

Just before the summit, the startups will take part in a series of workshops hosted by French South African Tech Labs (FSAT Labs).
AfricArena speakers
The summit will present a diverse collection of guest speakers. Topics that will be covered include education, venture capital, angel investment, and corporate acquisitions.
The speakers are the following:
- Vincent Viviers – Co-founder of Bottles App
- Olivier Laouchez – CEO of TRACE Group
- Zach George – Co-founder of AfriTech and Principal at Nedbank Venture Capital
- Matsi Modise – Vice-Chairperson of SIMODISA and Founder & CEO of Furaha Afrika Holdings
- Abu Cassim – Founder of Jozi Angels
- Marie Francoise Marie-Nelly – Southern Africa Country Director of The World Bank
Other panel speakers include Lelemba Phiri (Catalyst Fund), Rajiv Daya (Founders Factory Africa), Renier Kriel (FSAT Labs), and Murendeni Mafumo (Kusini Water).
