The partners include Bassita, Enroot, enpact, Startup Haus Cairo, IbtokarKhana, KMT/District Spaces, and AUC Venture Lab.

The book introduces readers to Egypt’s key startup players operating in political, environmental, and social change sectors.

It also provides tools for entrepreneurs to efficiently start up new ventures.

Entrepreneurship in Egypt

In 2019, Egypt ranked first in the MENA region for the number of startup deals. Foreign investors accounted for more than two-thirds of the deals closed.

“Egypt is an emerging market with a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem,” Dr Wessam El Beih, the foundation’s country director in Egypt said in a statement.

“Despite the global challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Egypt has shown economic resilience, recovery and growth in 2021. We are certain that the inspiring stories featured will not only be a motivation for replication but also augment networking and synergies.”

Established in 2014, Startup Guide has published startup handbooks for more than 40 cities and regions worldwide.

“We’re thrilled to expand our impact-focused series of guidebooks to Egypt, where a new generation of entrepreneurs is making genuine change,” said Startup Guide founder and CEO, Sissel Hansen.

To celebrate the release, Startup Guide and Drosos Foundation will host an online event on 26 May. The event will bring together members of Egypt’s startup community. The event will also promote the country for investment and highlight the emergence of impact-focused ventures.

Pre-order for Startup Guide Egypt are now available on the Startup Guide website.
