“Lexie Hearing is proud to expand our strategic relationship with Walgreens to include the availability of hearing aids for in-store purchase,” Lexie Hearing’s co-founder and CEO, Nic Klopper said in a statement.

“Many more Americans now have easy access to a hearing care solution that is affordable while offering a quality hearing experience.”

An affordable hearing solution

Established in 2016, hearX offers several health tech solutions in the field of hearing loss, detection, and diagnosis. To date, the company has provided over 1.2-million hearing tests in 191 countries.

Earlier this year, hearX launched Lexi Hearing in the US with its own hearing aid product. At the same time, hearX secured $8.3 million in investment from US venture capital group, Bose Ventures (see this story).

The hearing aids are programmed according to the user’s unique hearing profile. Users can customise their hearing profiles using a dedicated smartphone app.

Users can also make video or voice calls to hearing experts for support and remote care.

Customers can buy the aids for a cash price of $799 (R11 208) or 24 monthly payments of $39 (R547).

The hearing aids are also available through Walgreens’ online portal.

“We look forward to making hearing care more accessible to our customers,” said Walgreens Divisional Vice President, Robert Tompkins.

“This collaboration with Lexie Hearing helps us meet the needs of our customers, giving them an affordable solution to address their hearing difficulties.”
