This week’s events span across a range of themes including networking for non-profits and a spotlight on African women in tech.

Techsoup talks about networking for nonprofits

Samantha Barnard and Di Ruthenberg of Techsoup and nonprofit tech Phambano Technology will hold an event discussing the increase of social media use during the pandemic and how nonprofits can use these platforms  to present concepts and connect with interested beneficiaries and supporters. 

Participants will hear from nonprofits already making use of tools like LinkedIn, Twitter, Google Ads and Facebook to convert online networking leads into funding.

Prosper Africa holds roundtable for investing in African women in tech

Prosper Africa will be hosting a virtual roundtable discussing Investing in Africa’s Women Tech Founders and Portfolio Managers. US investors can connect with active deal opportunities featured in the U.S. Government’s Prosper Africa Virtual Deal Room.

Participants include Sabrina Dorman, Chief Financial Officer for Zumi, Temie Giwa-Tubosun, Founder and CEO, LifeBank and Sona Shah, Co-Founder of Neopenda. Additional speakers to be confirmed.

Understanding the 4th Industrial Revolution & Innovation Easily -Tiisetso Maloma

Startup Grind South Africa will be hosting its first book review event for 2021, covering and unpacking ‘Understanding the 4th Industrial Revolution & Innovation Easily written by Tiisetso Maloma. As the author of seven books, serial entrepreneurs, speaker, and innovation enthusiast, Maloma will be offering key insights into his latest book. 

Maloma’s book aims to help entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs get a leading understanding of the 4IR and how they can become innovators of novel products.

SU IdeaSmash Final Pitching event

Stellenbosch University is hosting the IdeaSmash final pitching event in partnership with the SU Office of the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation.

IdeaSmash serves as the internal round for the EDHE Entrepreneurship Intervarsity 2021 which identifies the top student entrepreneurs at the South African public universities. IdeaSmash winners stand the chance to receive a share of R50 000 in prize money and entry into the SU LaunchLab Countdown: Idea Validation programme.
