This November, a record of 29 cities across Africa and beyond will play host to an in-person gathering of investors in the biggest Africa Early Stage Investor Summit (#AESIS2022) since its inception in 2013.

#AESIS2022 is a summit designed by ABAN and VC4A with the slogan “for investors, by investors”, that has been growing steadily over the years even as the start-up ecosystem is being recognised as a crucial development tool for Africa.

“These gatherings are designed to create a rich networking experience for investors, and this year we expect more than 200 investor organisations to participate. Moreover, in 2021 we had 13 investor meetups in 11 cities. In November 2022, we will double that number and we can’t wait to see the growth that these conversations will spur,” said Fadilah Tchoumba, ABAN secretary general.

Registration for the local investor meetups will be done online and will be open to investors in the individual countries. Interested parties are encouraged to book their complimentary ticket as soon as possible as there is limited space available.

In the agenda for #AESIS2022, ABAN and VC4A have worked to jointly promote gender inclusivity and a green/climate investment mindset.

The Africa Early Stage Investor Summit team has announced 11 partnerships for the ninth edition of #AESIS2022; including Make-IT in Africa implemented by GIZ, GmbH and the Work In Progress! Alliance as strategic partners, the FMO Ventures programme and the UNDP – Sustainable Finance Hub as knowledge partners and Afrilabs, Bestseller Foundation, Dutch Good Growth Fund, Flourish Ventures, Launch Africa, NEXT176 by Old Mutual, and the UK-South Africa Tech Hub as friends of #AESIS2022.

The #AESIS2022 programme includes:

  • an online Summit with the most inspiring investor speakers;
  • virtual investor panels, keynotes, and fireside chats;
  • learning track with masterclasses hosted by investor expertise;
  • 2022 VC4A Venture Showcase;
  • and an in-person investor meetups hosted by investors all over the world.

#AESIS2022 is for the first time introducing an ecosystem side event, curated for entrepreneur support organisations and accelerators. The segment speaks to the intersection between entrepreneurship development and early stage investing.
