E-commerce sales are on the rise in South Africa, and according to a study by eMarketer, are expected to reach R23 billion by the end of 2023. To help local entrepreneurs leverage ecommerce trends to increase their growth, the Payfast eCommerce Virtual Summit will take place from 14 to 15 March 2023.

The event will be hosted by Insaka eCommerce Academy and will feature short, informative presentations and longer-form courses chaired by over 30 industry leaders, including representatives from Meta, Google, Amazon Web Services, WooCommerce, and Shopify.

The summit is designed to help entrepreneurs stay relevant in the constantly shifting ecommerce landscape. The rise of sales through TikTok, the potential impact of artificial intelligence, and learning about selling to the Gen Z market are just a few of the topics that will be discussed.

Chief commercial officer at Payfast, David Adams, said, “We’re excited to once again be partnering with Insaka on this event; the Summit presents a great opportunity to unpack these and other hot topics.”

New to this year’s summit is the introduction of online courses that will provide attendees with a more in-depth look into specific topics. These include sessions on Web3, Crypto, and NFTs in ecommerce, novice and advanced sessions on Google ad set up, and leveraging Meta ads for Facebook and Instagram.

Founder of Insaka, Warrick Kernes, said, “With our masterclasses, we want attendees to leave with tangible knowledge and practical tools to take their online business to the next level. For those who have yet to set themselves up online, but are on the precipice, we want to provide them with the confidence to set up a platform that they know will cater to what they need as a business.”

The summit’s flexible agenda, spread over two days, allows attendees to select which topics will be most beneficial to their needs. The presentations are separated into beginner and advanced topics, so that entrepreneurs can learn at their level.

Other key speakers include managing director at Bob Group, Andy Higgins, Web3 lead at WooCommerce, Dave Lockie, co-founder of HustlersGlobal and CEO of Stavrou Consulting, Marko Stavrou, founder and CEO of Zulzi.com, Donald Valoyi, CEO of Future Females, Lauren Dallas, head of sales and market development of PayPal Middle East and Africa, Tahir Emrah Tuzun, and CEO at Zapper, Mike Bryer, among others.

The online event is open to the public and free to attend. The summit presents a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to learn from industry leaders and to keep up with the constantly shifting ecommerce landscape.
