With North Africa quietly transforming into a hotbed for tech start-ups, it comes as no surprise that the upcoming AfricArena Cairo Growth Stage Summit is already generating significant buzz among investors and start-up founders.

The Egyptian capital Cairo – where the summit will be held from Saturday, 29 April to Friday, 5 May – is at the forefront of this revolution. The country has been nurturing a burgeoning start-up scene, with entrepreneurs from various sectors finding success in the technology ecosystem.

The event is set to attract some of the biggest names in the venture capital world.

Africa’s leading technology accelerator, AfricArena, has formed a strategic partnership with the African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (AVCA) for the week-long event aimed at boosting investment within the African and global VC ecosystem. It will feature a VC Unconference event, pitch clinics, networking opportunities, and breakout sessions.

Organisers tell Ventureburn the two-day VC Unconference event is a unique opportunity for investors from across the African continent, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia to exchange innovative ideas and collaborate within the ecosystem.

The summit aims to ease and enhance the process of investing on the African continent, which can be a challenge for investors unfamiliar with the terrain. By connecting investors with start-up founders, the VC Unconference event is sure to provide a platform for some exciting new ventures to take off.

Meanwhile, the AfricArena Cairo Growth Stage Summit will give start-ups the opportunity to pitch their ventures to both African and foreign investors. This is a chance for founders to showcase their ideas to some of the biggest names in the VC world, and to secure the funding they need to take their businesses to the next level.

According to the latest research, the number of tech start-ups in Egypt increased by 27% in 2021. This growth can be attributed to a variety of factors, including a young and tech-savvy population, government support, and access to capital. The country’s location also makes it an attractive destination for start-ups looking to expand into other African markets.

The AfricArena Cairo Growth Stage Summit is seen as a testament to the growing importance of the North African tech start-up scene. For those interested in attending the summit, group bundle rates are available for both the VC Unconference event and the AfricArena Cairo Growth Stage Summit.

The excitement is also building for the AfricArena New York Summit, which is set to take place in just two weeks’ time on Saturday, 20 April 2023. The event is being held in partnership with AWS Startups and Africa Capital Digest, and will be hosted at the AWS Startup Loft in Soho, Manhattan, New York.

Organisers describe it as a fantastic opportunity for start-ups in the African tech ecosystem to connect with foreign investors, access funds, and leverage networks. Attendees can look forward to a vibrant and engaging atmosphere, and can also experience the unique culture and energy of New York City.
