Backbase, the world’s leading engagement banking platform provider, has announced its first Backbase Tour in Africa, with a focus on fintech.
The one-day conference, to be held on Tuesday, 16 May, will bring together 150 banking and fintech professionals from across Southern and Central Africa to discuss the major challenges shaping the future of fintech in the region.

The conference will feature keynote speakers and expert-led discussions on topics such as unlocking new opportunities in retail, lending, and SME banking, as well as providing proven strategies for digital transformation. Attendees will have the opportunity to gain critical insights into how their banks can offer seamless and exceptional experiences to their customers through engagement banking tools.
Backbase has a strong track record of gathering experts in the banking and fintech sectors worldwide, and its first event in Africa signifies the continent as an increasingly strategic region.
The Backbase tour in Johannesburg will feature a number of industry experts, including Ashley Chetty, head of digital channels at Standard Bank South Africa, Shameer Patel, general manager for personal and business banking at I&M Bank, Chipiliro Katundu, group chief product at Letshego, Servaas Venter, sales lead for FSI for Microsoft South Africa, and Dominic Provencal, head of business banking at MCB Group.
