Jendamark Automation, a South African company based in Gqeberha, has won the Technology Innovation of the Year award at the Africa Tech Week Awards. The prize was given to the company for its Odin Manufacturing software, which aims to digitise and improve production efficiencies for small to medium-sized enterprises.

The ceremony was held in Cape Town earlier this week. This is the second consecutive award for Jendamark Automation, which also clinched the same competition category at last year’s event.

Yanesh Naidoo, the company’s innovation director, said that the award serves as confirmation that the manufacturing technology developed by Jendamark meets a real need for SMEs. He also emphasised the importance of building a strong manufacturing-based economy in South Africa and Africa as a whole.

Naidoo explained that the Odin Manufacturing software was developed to create opportunities for the human capital in the country and the continent.

Jendamark Automation specialises in designing and building assembly lines and special-purpose machines for the global automotive manufacturing sector. The company’s Odin Manufacturing division works to integrate 4IR technologies by developing digitisation solutions for any production facility.

In addition to its manufacturing division, Jendamark has also developed the Odin Education division, which creates tech infrastructure to bridge the digital divide in underprivileged schools. The division was named a finalist in the edtech category at this year’s Africa Tech Week Awards.

Naidoo explained that the Odin Education division was created to help transform the education sector, so that young South Africans can be ready to take on the manufacturing challenge amid the rapidly accelerating pace of Industry 4.0 technologies.

Jendamark’s Odin Manufacturing software has already been deployed in a number of manufacturing facilities across the globe. The software’s ability to digitise and streamline production processes has resulted in significant improvements in productivity and efficiency.

The company’s commitment to driving innovation in the manufacturing and education sectors has earned it a reputation as one of South Africa’s most innovative companies. Jendamark Automation’s focus on creating solutions that meet real needs in the market has enabled it to stand out in a highly competitive industry.

The Africa Tech Week Awards aim to recognise companies and individuals who are driving innovation and technology on the continent. The awards ceremony brings together leaders from the technology, business, and investment sectors to celebrate innovation and excellence in Africa.
