The Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC+ Africa) has launched registration for its highly anticipated 2024 event, signalling a major milestone for Africa’s largest gathering of entrepreneurial experts and leaders. The congress, organised by the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), will take place in Cape Town and aims to shape the future of entrepreneurship on the continent.

Registration for GEC+ Africa opens on Friday, 23 June, marking the beginning of an exciting journey toward empowering African entrepreneurs and exploring the ever-evolving economic landscape. The local organising committee will convene for its first meeting, highlighting the significance of this prestigious event.

Drawing participants from over 50 African nations, GEC+ Africa serves as a powerful platform for fostering entrepreneurial activity and harnessing its transformative power within the African economic context. Scheduled for 13 to 14 March 2024 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, the congress promises an immersive two-day experience focused on engagement, empowerment, and the catalysation of local and global entrepreneurial initiatives.

According to Kizito Okechukwu, co-chairperson of GEN Africa, GEC+ Africa represents more than just an event. It is a convergence of ideas, inspiration, and business innovation, driving Africa’s business leaders toward a more dynamic entrepreneurial economy. Okechukwu invites all those interested in working with or supporting Africa’s entrepreneurs to register now and secure their attendance at this landmark event.

GEC+ Africa will bring together international thought leaders and practitioners who are part of GEN’s global movement, dedicated to advancing entrepreneurship as a means of economic growth and improving human welfare. As a precursor to the Cape Town event, GEN will host a global gathering in Australia this September, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing entrepreneurship worldwide.

Sir Richard Branson, the renowned entrepreneur, has endorsed GEN’s vision, stating, “I’m proud to support GEN, with a mission to make it possible for anyone, anywhere, to start or scale a new business.”

Since its inauguration by then-deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa at the Global GEC Johannesburg in 2017, GEC+ Africa has embodied Africa’s entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrated the continent’s commitment to economic prosperity and growth. The event signifies a pivotal moment in Africa’s economic evolution.
