The African tech scene is burgeoning with unprecedented opportunities for local start-ups, as advancements in AI, blockchain, renewable energy, and other pioneering technologies become the blueprint for the continent’s future.

Recognising this potential, African entrepreneurs are harnessing innovation to devise ground-breaking solutions. They now turn to the celebrated SA Innovation Summit (SAIS) for its 16th edition, the platform poised to accelerate their growth and impact in this tech ecosystem.

The four-day summit, slated for 26 to 29 September 2023 in the heart of Cape Town, is poised to become a melting pot of visionaries, disruptors, and thought leaders. It is expected to provide a platform for start-ups to collaborate, exchange ideas, and form valuable networks, thereby facilitating their sustainable growth.

Simultaneously, content creators will find the space to augment their voices, contributing significantly to the expanding spectrum of the African tech industry.

The event, under the stewardship of the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA), promises an invigorating line-up of over 120 speakers, influential exhibitors, and engaging side events, while expecting to attract a crowd of 3 000 attendees.

The summit’s overarching theme, “Africa’s Innovation Frontier,” symbolises innovation, teamwork, and co-creation. Buntu Majaja, the CEO of SAIS, emphasised, “The attendees will get to celebrate, invest in, and support the trailblazers of Africa’s innovation frontier, playing a key role in moulding our continent’s future.”

A week-long festival of innovation will spread across Cape Town with side events in areas ranging from Century City to Khayelitsha and Gardens to Woodstock. These events will provide expert insights into the challenges and opportunities unique to the African tech landscape, hosted by the summit’s partners, Uvu Africa, Specno, Holocene, and exclusive IP Law Partner, Von Seidels.

The 16th Annual Summit also introduces a Corporate Innovation Day, co-hosted by the African innovation-strategy boutique advisory firm, Research Institute of Innovation and Sustainability (RIIS), and global market research firm, Frost and Sullivan. This day provides a unique platform for business leaders, executives, and futurists to understand how innovation can revolutionize value chains and create new opportunities in Africa.

Speakers at the summit will cover a range of topics, including the future of digital technology in Africa, the relevance of renewable energy, and the reality of building ecosystems. SAIS’23 will also provide numerous opportunities for networking, business matchmaking, and interactions with investors.

“We hold the firm belief that scalable businesses and technology startups are the essential building blocks for our continent and the key to real economic value. We are honoured to collaborate with our partners annually to offer an unparalleled experience in Cape Town,” says Majaja.
