Gozem, the leading Super App in Francophone Africa, has secured $30 million in Series B funding to fuel its expansion across West and Central Africa. The round, comprising equity and debt, was led by SAS Shipping Agencies Services Sàrl (a subsidiary of MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company SA) and Al Mada Ventures.
This strategic investment brings together Gozem’s innovative technology platform with the expertise and resources of major players in logistics and financial services. The funding will be used to enhance Gozem’s existing services, expand into new markets, and accelerate the launch of its digital bank, Gozem Money.

From Moto-Taxis to Super App
Launched in 2018 as a moto-taxi service, Gozem has rapidly evolved into a comprehensive Super App offering a wide range of services, including:
- Ride-hailing (moto, tricycle, and car)
- Food and supermarket delivery
- Digital ticketing
- Vehicle financing
- Digital banking
This integrated approach addresses the diverse needs of users in Francophone Africa, providing convenient access to essential services through a single platform. However, the market is not without challenges—competition from local fintech players, regulatory hurdles, and infrastructure limitations all pose potential obstacles to rapid expansion.
Expanding Reach and Impact
With this new funding, Gozem plans to expand its footprint across West and Central Africa, bringing its Super App to new markets and underserved communities. The company will also invest in enhancing its transport services, including financing more brand-new vehicles for taxi drivers to improve the overall user experience.
“Gozem is an exceptional company that aligns perfectly with MSC Group’s dedication to Africa and its focus on developing innovative mobility and logistics solutions to boost trade,” said Diego Aponte, MSC Group President.
Revolutionizing Digital Banking in Africa
A key focus for Gozem is the launch of its digital bank, Gozem Money. This initiative aims to provide accessible and affordable financial services to individuals and businesses in Francophone Africa, many of whom remain unbanked or underbanked. While mobile money solutions such as Orange Money and Wave are already dominant players, Gozem Money aims to differentiate itself through deep integration with its Super App ecosystem.
Gozem Money will leverage the company’s existing user base and technology infrastructure to offer a seamless and integrated banking experience. Key features include:
- Mobile payments and money transfers
- Savings and investment products
- Access to credit and loans
“As we continue to observe the evolution of the population’s demand towards technology-enabled mobility services, Gozem stands out with its inclusive, reliable, and easy-to-use Super App model,” said Omar Laalej, Managing Director at Al Mada Ventures.
Strategic Partnerships for Growth
The investment from SAS Shipping Agencies Services and Al Mada Ventures brings not only financial resources but also valuable expertise and strategic partnerships. Gozem will be able to leverage the extensive networks and experience of these investors to accelerate its growth and expand its service offerings.
“We are thrilled to welcome MSC Group and Al Mada Ventures as strategic investors,” said Gregory Costamagna, Co-Founder of Gozem. “Their extensive experience in African logistics and financial services will be invaluable in scaling our Super App and expanding into new markets.”
A Vision for the Future
Gozem’s vision is to become the leading Super App in Francophone Africa, providing a comprehensive suite of digital services that empower individuals and businesses. This latest funding round is a significant step towards realizing that vision.
By combining innovative technology, strategic partnerships, and a deep understanding of the local market, Gozem is well-positioned to revolutionize the digital landscape in Francophone Africa and drive economic growth across the region. However, its long-term success will depend on how effectively it navigates regulatory environments, differentiates itself from existing fintech solutions, and scales its offerings across diverse markets.
With this new backing, Gozem is set to accelerate its transformation into a powerhouse for digital services in Africa. The road ahead is filled with opportunities—and challenges—but Gozem appears ready to take on both.
