Cape Town-based software company Dineplan has announced its partnership with Reserve with Google. As a first for South Africa, the partnership will enable diners to easily book a table at their favourite local restaurant directly through Google Search, Maps, or Assistant.

Martin Rose, director of Dineplan explains that the partnership increases convenience for customers.

“To be able to offer restaurant bookings through Google will provide diners another promising avenue to make bookings through the Dineplan network. With bookings on the Business Profile showing up in Google Search results, this will present a very convenient and efficient way for diners to make their reservations.”

What does this mean for consumers?

As Dineplan has integrated with Reserve with Google, locals will be able to view the live availability of restaurants across the country and book a table all via Google.

By securing a reservation through Google, diners will be notified and kept up-to-date via Google Calendar, Gmail, and the Dineplan mobile app. In addition, consumers will be able to adjust or cancel their bookings via the previously mentioned platforms.

The partnership has a two-fold positive impact; both facilitating customer convenience but also supporting the local restaurant industry as it aims to drive bookings.

“This will be hugely beneficial for restaurants as the convenience of booking online will help to drive more bookings and people into restaurants, all of which comes at a difficult period for restaurants in general with the COVID pandemic,” adds Rose.

Dineplan

Founded in 2011 by Greg Whitfield and Martin Rose, Dineplan is a reservation software company for restaurants and utilises technology to create an electronic reservation book.

In 2018, the software company launched its Dineplan App, a platform that has reportedly garnered an award and enables consumers to easily book a table at a restaurant from their smartphone device.

Social impact

Dineplan is committed to supporting local and small businesses in the food and beverage industry. In March 2020, Dineplan launched the free Voucherplan platform, enabling any small business to sell vouchers and generate much-needed cash flow during the height of the global pandemic.

According to Dineplan, the initiative was a success and resulted in over R6-million worth of vouchers being sold.
