Tsogo Sun partners with MEDO for further entrepreneurial support
MEDO recently announced its partnership with Tsogo Sun. Together, the hotel and entertainment group and the Micro Enterprise Development Organisation plan to help facilitate entrepreneurship in South Africa.
Tsogo Sun is planning on mainly being responsible for supplying venues and accommodation to MEDO and affiliates. This would further enable the delivery of the enterprise development programmes as it will support business trips and meetings.
MEDO meanwhile will be helping with Tsogo Sun’s Book-a-Guesthouse programme, which is a skills-based entrepreneurial development initiative that provides support to black South Africans, particularly women, who operate their own guesthouses.
“The view is that if small businesses can grow, the overall sector grows and our country benefits in the long run. It’s a progressive and abundance mentality view that drives the Book-a-Guesthouse programme” adds Judi Sandrock, Joint CEO of MEDO.
The Book-a-Guesthouse programme falls under Tsogo Sun’s SunCare policy that encourages entrepreneurial development, community development and environmental management. So far, this programme has supported over 60 entrepreneurs across the industry and claims to have been instrumental in creating 258 jobs and supporting more than 2 000.
“We are delighted to have partnered with MEDO who we believe will add even more value to the programme’s beneficiaries through the delivery of specialised business skills by the organisation’s professional team,” says Special Projects Manager Candy Tothill at Tsogo Sun.
The partnership is part of a series we’ve seen over the last months. MEDO partnered with the University of Stellenbosch Business school in order to create better reach in quality education. Furthermore, in partnership with British Telecom, the Micro Enterprise Development Organisation offered an international trip of a lifetime to South African entrepreneurs.
These partnerships, together with Tsogo Sun’s resemble the shared vision of fostering and developing Enterprise Development (EP) strategies as well as operational roll-out plans and other related advisory services to support their BBBEE and broader investment priorities.
