Jump Shopping is now uAfrica.com, widens eCommerce scope

Jump Shopping, the popular South African comparative shopping service, has been rebranded as uAfrica.com

The company has been operating in the eCommerce space since 2004 and aims to cover all aspects of eCommerce. This includes price comparison through uPrice.co.za — essentially a rebranded version of Jump Shopping — as well as friendly domain name registration and management services through uWeb.co.za — uAfrica.com is an accredited co.za domain registrar with Uniforum South Africa.

The company also provides eCommerce consultancy to eCommerce businesses, conducts eCommerce research and eCommerce training.

Andy Higgins, founder and former Managing Director of Bid or Buy, teamed up with Jaco Roux, founder of Jump Shopping in August 2012, to launch uAfrica.com

“I’m very excited to take on this project. eCommerce in South Africa is constantly evolving and together with the collective knowledge and experience in eCommerce that this venture brings, I believe uAfrica.com will be instrumental in growing eCommerce in South Africa” says Higgins, Managing Director of uAfrica.com

uAfrica will also continue to play host to an annual eCommerce Conference. The South African eCommerce Awards is an initiative to recognise and reward companies that demonstrate excellence operating in the eCommerce space within South Africa. The awards are currently in its seventh year of operation.

“Year on year we have a front row seat to this ever growing industry. eCommerce in South Africa continues to exceed our expectations and uAfrica.com intends to ensure that this trend continues” says Roux, Technical Director of uAfrica.com

Speaking to Ventureburn, Higgins revealed his plans for uWeb: “we would like to provide a solution that makes it really easy for any business to start selling online through their own website integrating the website itself, logistics, online payments and most importantly tools to market their website all with a local South African flavour. These tools include social media, price comparison engines, pay per click advertising as well as other online platforms / marketplaces.”
