Small business accounting and payroll solutions provider Sage and tech giant Microsoft are collaborating on future product development. The partnership will enable Sage products to be built on Microsoft platforms, leveraging the company’s cloud solutions.
As noted in a press release, this recent deal strengthens an existing relationship between the two parties. While Sage has been a key customer for Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Azure, the payroll provider will be able to deliver cloud, on-premise and hybrid solutions at a global level.

Alan Laing of Sage’s global strategic partnerships and alliances explains how important this announcement is for scaling the company’s operations on a global level:
We have enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with Microsoft for many years at a local level, but this new agreement is about taking a step back to look at the bigger picture. We’re imagining what could be made possible for Small & Medium Businesses if our two organisations worked more closely together on a global scale.
Laing notes that Sage is working exciting new solutions for SMEs in the long-term.
“We’re pleased to be growing our relationship with Sage, building upon their work with Azure, and extending it to the Office 365 platform,” adds Julia White, the general manager of Office 365 product marketing. “By developing on the Office 365 platform, Sage will ultimately help accountants and bookkeepers to be more productive.”
