The Wired Women Conference aims to cover women in technology and uncover the key issues surrounding them. The South African conference also seeks to provide a supportive and dynamic environment that puts attendees in touch with leading innovators, business leaders, and inspirational people.
As noted in a press release, the Wired Women Conference has two main agendas: addressing gender equality divide in the tech space; encouraging women to take advantage of the opportunities that technology offers

“It’s time for women in tech to co-opt male champions in order to grow a more balanced representation in this space” said Debby Edelstein, the CEO of QualityLife and organiser of the annual Wired Women Conference.
“We need to encourage workplace diversity that brings the benefits of male and female leadership styles to the table. There is a lot that female leaders can learn from their male counterparts, and vice versa.” she added.
Attendees can expect to learn about leading an innovative organisation, what it takes to attract new talent into your organisation, how to build followers and nurture market share, how to create and develop a winning team, and how to test and expand a new business concept.

Some of the speakers include Erika van der Merwe, CEO of the SA Venture Capital and Private Equity Assossiation (SAVCA); Prof Barry Dwolatzky, Professor of Electrical Engineering at Wits; Jayshree Naidoo, Standard Bank Incubator Head; Alan Knott-Craig Jr, Founder and CEO or Project Isizwe.
The event is sponsored by a variety of companies, some of which include PayFast, Standard Bank, MTN Foundation, and Strate.
Wired Women will be taking place on 23 October at the Protea Hotel Parktonia, Johannesburg, South Africa. Tickets are priced at R3 400 and are available through the Wired Women website.
