Libyan edtech startup Elham Education has been selected as the winner of this year’s edition of the Seedstars Tripoli pitch event.
In all, seven startups pitched at the event which was held in the Libyan capital yesterday (6 August).

A panel — that included MEDA Libya country director Intissar Rajabany, Gemstones founder and managing director Mounia Attiga, Libyan internet society CEO Omar Shuran, and Tadawul Financial Group founder Naaman Elbouri — selected the winners.
Elham Education was founded in 2016 by CEO Mallek Ajaj
Elham Education, which was founded by CEO Mallek Ajaj in 2016, was placed first for its platform which provides five different educational services that complement Libya’s education system.
She Codes, a Benghazi-based social enterprise which aims to equip women and children with coding and computational skills, was placed second, while Sabha-based food delivery service Yummy came in third.
The eight other startups that pitched at the event were: Wajabat, Ematec, Libya Crowdfunder, Sinbad, Tehcneon Group, Almo3een Alwal, Oktoviz, and Homemade.
By winning Seedstars Tripoli, Elham Education has secured an opportunity to represent Libya at Seedstar’s Africa and global summits. At the global conference in Lausanne, the startup stands a chance to win up to $1-million in funding.
