Seedstars World, one of the largest startup competitions for emerging markets, will host the fourth edition of its annual Seedstars Africa Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in December. As part of an agreement with Seedstars, Ventureburn readers will get 10% off the ticket price.
The summit, which will be held from 11 to 13 December, aims to bridge the gap between the various ecosystem roleplayers and help connect regional stakeholders to promote tech entrepreneurship as a way to impact people’s lives.

The summit will kick off with a bootcamp, where participating startups will have an opportunity to meet the mentors in fields like growth hacking, inbound marketing and preparing for fundraising.
An investor forum will take place on 12 December and will include one-on-one meetings between key investors and entrepreneurs. Seedstars will also conduct an invitation-only ecosystem tour of local entrepreneurs and support organisations.

The summit will conclude with a conference the following day which will feature startup pitches and keynote speeches with top-notch entrepreneurs.
Tickets can be bought at the event website here and early-bird prices are available until 15 November. Ticket prices range between $15 and $200 depending on the type of ticket, but Ventureburn readers will get 10% off the ticket price (simply enter the code VBxSSWAfrica when ordering tickets), on top of both the early-bird prices.
500 attendees expected
Commenting in a press release this week, Seedstars’ Africa regional manager Claudia Makadristo said the organisation was able to bring together more than 400 attendees at last year’ summit in Maputo, Mozambique (see this story and this one) — including entrepreneurs, corporates, investors, mentors, government authorities and startup enthusiasts.
“We organised around 232 one-on-one meetings between startups, mentors and investors and we felt overwhelmed by the positive feedback we had from all attendees. This year we aim to grow and offer a unique disruptive hands-on experience to 500 participants,” he said.
In addition, Seedstars — through its Seedstars Expansion Programme — will bring three early-stage startups from Switzerland’s Vaud canton to the summit, to network with local businesses.
The programme is run in partnership with the Office for Economic Affairs and Innovation (SPEI) from Swizerland’s Vaud canton, in collaboration with Innovaud, CVCI and the Lausanne Région.
