SA’s FinChatBot selected for Class 8 of INV Fintech accelerator

Johannesburg-based FinChatBot has been accepted into Class 8 of the New York based INV Fintech accelerator.

FinChatBot develops artificial intelligence (AI) powered chat bots for the financial industry which enable financial service providers to increase their onsite conversion rate while gathering more information about their potential customers.

The startup, which was founded in 2016 by Antoine Paillusseau (pictured above) and Romain Diaz, is the only African startup in the cohort.

FinChatBot was selected for the virtual accelerator’s latest cohort together with six other startups, namely Alkymi, Boss Insights, Digs, Relativity6, Sedicii and Tuuk.

US fintech publication Bank Innovation said in an article on Monday (4 November) that the seven startups were selected after a rigorous review process by INV Fintech with feedback from partners that include Fiserv, TIAA, BB&T, BMO Harris, City National Bank, Associated Bank and Lincoln Savings Bank.

INV Fintech and its partners will over the next five months mentor the seven startups in the cohort.

Last year FinChatBot raised $500 000 in funding from South African venture capital firm Kalon Venture Partners and Mauritius-based VC Compass Capital (see this story).
