Disrupting the venue and events booking industry
GetVen has worked tirelessly to modify venue booking with an online platform and will have over 200 listings available on its platform.
The online marketplace allows users to access short-term spaces through an easy and transparent process. It also showcases a variety of spaces, ranging from trendy Sandton Rooftop Bars to abandoned warehouses.
Sibs Qetu-Yates, co-founder and head of product at GetVen, provides insight into the aims of the tech startup.
“GetVen was founded with a vision of bringing online venue booking in South Africa to the 21st century & make it quick and convenient to book event spaces. South Africa is known for its beauty and a wide variety of culture & vibrant hangouts. We knew finding spaces with that wow factor wouldn’t be difficult, but we wanted to curate a collection that not only looks great, but also meets the needs of all our users, whose uses will range from birthdays, to film shoots, engagement parties and even weddings.”
Among its users, GetVen expects a large number of entrepreneurs, photographers, artists, and employees from the nation’s largest businesses.
Qetu-Yates adds that their marketplace can offer potential venue owners a new stream for revenue.
“We want to be the destination for any function that South Africans would like to host outside of their home or office by making the untapped potential of South Africa’s most interesting locations accessible. We also want to empower those individuals who find that they have an interesting home or space to be able to earn extra income by listing on our platform. We believe some truly unique and memorable activities will happen in these places.”
Connor Kirsten, the co-founder of GetVen, explains that the startup is already planning on expanding its offering.
“Ensuring that GetVen.com is a one-stop-shop for all event needs is our number one priority,” said GetVen Co-Founder, Connor Kirsten.
GetVen plans to roll out a logistics service that will also assist users with finding audio equipment, catering, DJ’s, and any other services that might be required.
