Tanzania has launched the Tanzania Startup Association (TSA). The association is an umbrella membership-based organisation with the goal of bringing together the players in the country’s startup environment.

The association was founded by serial entrepreneur and, Zahoro Muhaji. Muhaji has more than a decade of experience has become a prominent figure in the startup sector and in helping Tanzania’s young entrepreneurs.
The Executive Secretary for the Tanzania National Business Council (TNBC), Dr Goodwill Wanga, welcomed the founding the TSA. Speaking at the launch, Wanga stated that the TSA will play a crucial role in adding more young entrepreneurs and businesses to Tanzania’s private sector.
The association’s is run by different entrepreneurs who have experience in different fields. Non-executive chairman Tanzania Cigarette Co. Ltd, Paul Makanza is the chairman of the association and has experience in business planning, entrepreneurship and strategic planning, and corporate finance.
According to their website, the association has worked and will continue to work learning institutions, investor networks, government institutions, and private businesses to support the growth of startups in Tanzania.
How to join the Tanzania Startup Association
The TSA reviews applications and will be doing so continuously. Applicants are able to join the association either as a financier, an accelerator or a hub, as a startup or as any other part in the startup sector.
Applicants can fill in the association’s membership application form here. Once the form has been received and reviewed, the association will contact the applicant to request their documents and make sure that the information is valid.
If the information is valid, the applicant will be given their membership status.
TSA Programs and benefits
Being a member of the TSA, will provide access to bi-monthly members-only meetups and members-only informal catch-ups.
The association will also host the TSA forum which will be an open public forum for startups as well as small to medium-scale enterprises.
