The fire that started on 18 April 2021 continues to rage through Cape Town and firefighters are working hard to control the blaze.
In an official statement, Charlotte Powel, the Head: Public Awareness & Preparedness – Disaster Risk Management Centre has indicated that the strong winds are wreaking havoc as firefighters and rescue services battle the fire.
“City firefighting resources dispatched include 32 firefighting appliances and more than 150 firefighters. Aerial firefighting support remains grounded due to strong winds. Evacuations have taken place at UCT as well as the following locations in Vredehoek: Peppertree road, Ministerial Estate, Disa Park, and Mountain View Complex.”
