Here are the nine startups pitching today at Seedstars Kampala

Seedstars World, the Swiss emerging market startup competition, has named the nine startups that will pitch today at Seedstars Kampala in Uganda.

It is not clear what time the pitching event will start, but it will be held at Kololo Independence Ground.

Besides representing Uganda at the Seedstars Africa Summit, the winner of the event will get an all-inclusive trip to Johannesburg in December for the Seedstars Africa Summit.

The Seedstars Kampala winner will represent Uganda at the Seedstars Africa Summit

At the regional summit, the Seedstars Kampala victor stands a chance to win a spot at the Seedstars Global Summit in Switzerland where an investment prize of $500 000 is up for grabs.

The nine are:

• Too Good: Online platform that advertises businesses and offers users discounts of up to 85%
• Ogaget: Facilitates quick access to the nearest available emergency transport and care service within a user’s budget
• Yunga Technologies: Security device that allows homes to protect each other through a local network
• Ugabus: Bus aggregation service that enables users to buy and book tickets to destinations across East Africa
• Paat Soil Clinic: Developed a mobile digital soil testing technology for efficient soil fertility improvement
• GNU Grid Africa: Cleantech social enterprise that aims to foster energy inclusion of Uganda’s off-grid population by working with and equipping solar companies with digital tools and systems
• The Online Butchery: Online meat store that specialises in delivering a variety of fresh meat products
• Chap Chap Africa: Creates financial profiles for small businesses by digitising their day-to-day business transactions
• Teheca: Connects new and expecting mothers to nurses for in home checkup while creating increased income for nurses.

The nine will pitch in front of a panel comprised of International Trade Center startup relations and engagement associate John Ndabarasa, Numida co-founder and co-CEO Mina Shahid, Jumia Uganda CEO Ron Kawamara, Flutterwave country lead Nielsimms Sangho, Ensibuuko founder Otim Gerald and Seedstars Africa regional partnerships manager Maryam Mgonja.
