Israeli insurtech startup OKO Finance has been named the winner of last Thursday’s (7 November) Seedstars Bamako pitching event.

OKO Finance provides smallholder farmers in emerging countries with index insurance and other farming-related services.

The startup, which is headquartered in Tel Aviv and also operates in Mali, was founded in 2017 by Simon Schwall and Shehzad Lokhandwalla.

The startup will now represent Mali at the Seedstars Africa Summit — which will be held in Johannesburg next month — where it will get a chance to win a spot to pitch for $500 000 in equity funding at the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland.
