If at first you don’t succeed, try again. This is what Botswana’s Mohiri has proved. After being placed third at last year’s Seedstars Gaberone, the job alert service was named the winner of this year’s pitching event.

The event was held last Friday (8 November) at the Botswana Innovation Hub.

The service, which was developed by Angular Creative Labs, uses an artificial intelligence (AI) driven assistant to alert users when there are jobs in their respective areas that match their profile.

Angular Creative Labs, whose founders include Thabo Kasongo and Thato Kasongo, was founded in 2014.

Mohiri will now represent Botswana at the Seedstars Africa Summit

Mohiri will now represent Botswana  at the Seedstars Africa Summit — which will be held in Johannesburg next month — where it will get a chance to win a spot to pitch for $500 000 in equity funding at the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland.

Peer-to-peer open distance learning platform Classmate won second place, while insurtech startup Vimosure was placed third at the event.

The Botswana Innovation Hub said in a statement on Facebook that Mohiri had also won $70 000 worth of technology credits.

In all, 10 companies were selected to pitch at the event. They include Global GamePlay BW, Khadi Agri Holdings, Leintel Codemasters Holdings, regtech startup Rockville Solutions, ride-hailing platform SkyHub, healthtech Sturgeon Digital and internet protocol television (IPTV) infrastructure company Vodcast TV.
