Here’s who’s pitching this afternoon at Seedstars Cape Town

Swiss emerging market startup competition Seedstars World has named the nine startups that will pitch today at Seedstars Cape Town.

The event will kick off at 4pm at Seedspace Cape Town.

Seedstars World will select the startup that represents South Africa at the Seedstars Regional Summit from among the winners of Seedstars Cape Town as well as the Seedstars Johannesburg event, which will be held next Thursday (28 November).

Besides representing South Africa at the Seedstars Regional Summit, the winner will get a chance to win an all-inclusive trip to Switzerland, to compete at the Seedstars Summit for the title of Seedstars Global Winner and up to $500 000 in equity investments and other prizes.

Seedstars said in a statement yesterday that the startups pitching at the Cape Town and Johannesburg events have each raised under $500 000 in funding, built a minimum viable product and have existing traction.

The nine startups pitching at Seedstars Cape Town are:

  • Cybaug: The startup builds IT solutions for businesses
  • Getven.com: The company offer a free venue search and booking platform for event organisers and a free digital marketing tool for venue hosts.
  • Matchbox: This non-profit organisation aims to improve the quality of life and learning for young children living in South Africa’s underprivileged township communities.
  • Prim-U: An online booking platform that connects beauty entrepreneurs to customers and hundreds of salons, spas, hotels and guests houses countrywide.
  • SkillsPassport South Africa: Developed a platform that converts user information into a digital profile which is accessible by employers
  • Skudu: This agritech startup has developed an online algorithm-driven alternative to traditional soil and foliar analysis systems which operates on an internationally scalable platform that can assist farmers of any size, in any country and growing any crop.
  • SolarTurtle: The startup has developed an intelligent solar battery charging kiosk that provides rural entrepreneurs with products and tools required to launch their own businesses.
  • Vectra: Digital commerce startup
  • Yaksê: Recruiting, mentoring and coaching platform
