*Correction: Subsequent to the publication of the article, Vectra founder Wynand Geldenhuys informed Ventureburn that the company is in fact a digital commerce startup — and not an IT services consultancy as we earlier reported. We regret the error. The article has been updated to reflect this.
Digital commerce startup Vectra has been named the winner of yesterday’s Seedstars Cape Town event.

The Johannesburg-based startup was founded in 2017 by Wynand Geldenhuys (pictured above). The company provides a single integrated device that combines point-of-sale (POS) software as well as a speed point for card payments.
Earlier this year Wynand Geldenhuys won the 2019 Entrepreneur of the Year award sponsored by Sanlam and Business Partners.
Vectra will now represent Cape Town at the Seedstars Africa Summit
Vectra will now represent Cape Town at the Seedstars Africa Summit where it will get the chance to win a spot at the Seedstars Global Summit in Switzerland.
The winner of the global summit in Switzerland will take home a $500 000 investment prize as well as three months access to an investment readiness programme.
Agritech startup Skudu was placed second at the event that was held at Seedspace Cape Town. This while NuNanny, an on-demand platform for nannies, babysitters and night nurses came in third.
German development agency GIZ also awarded the title of best female entrepreneur to Prim-U, an on-demand booking platform that connects entrepreneurs in the beauty industry with customers.
Skudu, NuNanny, and Prim-U also won an all-inclusive trip to the Seedstars Africa Summit where they will participate in bootcamps, mentoring sessions and the investor forum.
However, only Vectra and the winner of this Thursday’s (28 November) Seedstars Johannesburg event will pitch at the regional summit.
